I read The Orphan Master's Son, which had nine million terrible--I mean terrible--things happen in it but I just couldn't stop reading it. I'm waiting for Amelia's book to arrive in the mail! I'm so excited to read it!Katherine {eggton}https://www.blogger.com/profile/10173463492528687959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2846773082587222338.post-79510711310933054702015-01-18T12:44:26.769-05:002015-01-18T12:44:26.769-05:00I read Comfort Me with Apples forever ago and so a...I read Comfort Me with Apples forever ago and so appreciate being reminded of it. Incidentally, in thinking of favorite meals in my life, I decided not to write them above, but two came to mind. The first was served by Lukis and his wife, and it was hot dogs with potato chips. A second were the delicious California Pizzas you and I ate together that snowy night in Iowa. I don't know where that falls on the spectrum of sourcing high-quality ingredients. Maybe the hotdogs just reveal my redneck heart. The pizzas were, I believe, our surrender to the blanketing snow. Anyway, fond memories, all! I've learned recently that chefs are as much curators as creators. So much of David's job is about sourcing high quality, ethical product, and I think he would agree that often the best food is the least prepared. One a side note, he recently said that ants on a log is a "perfectly balanced dish" which made me feel calmer about the next potluck. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and book suggestions, and yay yay Amelia!Alison Harneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17076997668499712416noreply@blogger.com
